Our Story

What began in 1971 as a small gathering of local farmers celebrating Hatch’s annual chile harvest has blossomed into a beloved tradition that now draws over 30,000 visitors each Labor Day weekend. The Hatch Chile Festival has grown into a dynamic celebration featuring chile roasting, live music, parades, and rich cultural experiences—all centered around the world-renowned Hatch chiles. More than just a food festival, it honors the agricultural heritage of the Hatch Valley and reflects the enduring spirit and traditions of the local community.
